We are excited to announce our latest feature release and launch of the first-ever Knowledgelink Quiz Builder. As user interaction has become more important to our Knowledgelink Admins, we listened to your requests and added our own internal quizzing and survey module. Now you can create your own quizzes to test, grade and track your users’ progress or to simply ask them to provide feedback on your content. And no third-party authoring tool is needed!
Knowledgelink Quiz Builder is super simple to use and you can leverage three types of questions – multiple choice, rating, and open answer. Decide if you want to grade your users or not and how many attempts you will allow them to pass. And even set a passing quiz score as a pre-requisite to continue on with your curriculum.

For all you readers out there… here’s how it works step-by-step:
Quizzing Back End:
Admins can now add a new session type in the content area called quiz.
Admins enter session metadata just as they would for video or link sessions. This includes title, presenters, tags, media groups, description, call to action, and attachments. The main difference is the “Build Quiz” button at the bottom and the scoring question after the title.
If an admin checks the box to include scoring, two more options appear. This will allow the quiz to be scored out of 100%. Leaving this unchecked does not score the quiz and is used for survey purposes. Once checked, the admin can set two more options: the passing score of the quiz and the number of attempts allowed for a user to try to pass. After the quiz has been pushed live to your course users, scoring will not be able to be removed or added.
The “Build Quiz” button opens a light box to a quiz builder. There are three types of questions you can add to a quiz:
Multiple Choice: Trash cans on the right allow admins to delete entries while the “Add Answer Option” button adds additional answers. There is no limit on the number of answers at this time. The radio button on the left selects the correct answer if the quiz is scored.
Rating question: The rating question allows admins to ask participants to select their answer from a preset rating scale. On the front-end interface, the user will be presented with a 1 – 5 scale to choose from. These questions are not scored even if scoring is selected.
Short Answer Question: Short answer questions allow admins to ask questions with open-ended answers. Users will be presented with an entry field in which they can enter long-form answers. These questions are not scored even if scoring is selected.
There are three buttons at the bottom:
Discard Quiz Changes: This discards changes on the quiz and returns to the quiz metadata screen.
Close Quiz Builder: This will save the quiz changes locally and return the admin to the quiz metadata screen. Make sure to click the “Update” button to save the changes permanently.
Save and Submit: This will save the quiz changes and the metadata in one step and return admins to the list of sessions. Select this option is there are no further edits to make to the metadata.
Once the quiz has been created, it can be dragged into the curriculum on the left, just like any other session. Media groups and all the other metadata work in exactly the same way.
Quizzing Front End:
Quizzes appear just as any other session appears on the front end of the Knowledgelink platform (video/pdf/.tincan/audio).
When the quiz is selected by the participant, the platform loads a title screen with the quiz title on the top, the thumbnail associated with the session, and a brief summary of the number of questions along with the required percentage score to pass (if scoring was set up prior to publishing).
Upon clicking “Start,” the first quiz slide will appear. In this case, it’s a multiple-choice question:
Clicking the answer will animate the selected answer and then progress to the next question. The navigation only lets users move to slides they have already answered, so from here they can go back to a previous question but not forward. The arrows will be greyed out when they are unavailable.
As users progress through the quiz, their progress is updated to the % of slides they’ve answered. Clicking back will allow users to return to the previous slide and change or review their answer. The arrows will change color according to whether or not they are available to click.
Once all questions have been answered, the “Submit” screen asks if users are ready to submit their answers. Users have the option to review the quiz, which will take them to the first question slide with their answers already selected, or navigate to the next slide by selecting an answer again or clicking the navigation arrows. Also, clicking the previous arrows allows users to review their answers.
On the final submission slide, users can click the “Submit” button to enter their answers and receive their score.
This slide will show the score and whether a user passed or failed based on the passing score set in the admin section. Users will have the option to retake the quiz which will bring them to the first quiz slide. Clicking the “Go to Next Session” button will take users to the next session in the course.
Reporting for the built-in quizzing system works the same as .tincan sessions. Admins can use the interactive reporting section in the admin portal to look up the quiz or user.
